A thought-provoking new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today first noting the BRICS Summit 2024 is now underway in Kazan-Russia, says throughout the day, President Putin is scheduled to hold several high-level meetings, including talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

With the BRICS Summit 2024 accurately described as “A new world order in the making”, this report notes, the current BRICS member countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates – collectively represent around 46% of the world’s population and over 36% of global GDP—and nearly three dozen states have expressed interest in joining BRICS or deepening cooperation with the group, and many of them have sent top level delegations to Kazan.

For Americans voting in their presidential election wishing to understand the views of nations attending the BRICS Summit 2024 that “will determine the further course of history”, this report details, it was best expressed by the main character River Tam in the popular 2005 science fiction movie Serenity, who rationally explained why the peoples of her world were rebelling against its own dystopian government: “People don't like to be meddled with...We tell them what to do, what to think...Don't run, don't walk...We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right...We're meddlesome”.

Then, a preachy and sanctimonious incumbent Jimmy Carter — ahead in the final October polls over challenger Ronald Reagan — finally turned off voters for good.

The onetime underdog Reagan won in a landslide for a variety of reasons. But certainly, one explanation was that the electorate had finally collectively shrugged off their weariness.

They were sick and tired of Carter’s downer lectures about how they were wrong and culpable.

Reagan, however, reminded voters that America was better than all the alternatives, needed not be perfect to be good, and had nothing to apologize for.

The same contrast will likely determine the election of 2024.
