Most of us are well aware of the power of thinking positive by now. An abundance of books, documentaries and the like, such as the Secret or the Power of intention have become popular household names in many homes. Despite its indisputable benefits which makes it a no brainer to implement people are becoming more and more aware that just thinking positive is not enough to completely change your life and live your dreams. There is something more that is not really being spoken about and that something, is the power of the subconscious mind.
First off, we have two minds; the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. We are fully aware of our conscious mind, it is what we believe we are using at all times. Our conscious mind can reason, discern and make logical choices about what is important and what is not. Unfortunately, this only accounts for about 10% of our brain power, according to experts such as Joseph Murphy.
Experts suggest that the subconscious mind accounts for more than 90% of our overall brain power but the subconscious mind, unlike the conscious, is not a reasonable thinker. It is objective and learns and accepts whatever is presented to it. It stores everything that happens throughout our lives. If you and I are having a conversation in a crowded bar, for example, our conscious mind is focused on our conversation, but the subconscious mind is taking in everything that is going on around you. This is why it is so important to surround yourself with people, places and things that are good for your mental wellbeing, because you are learning from EVERYTHING that is going on around you.
The easiest way to change this is through repetition, flood yourself with positive energy in terms of, as mentioned previously, positive people, places and things. You cannot afford to make what you surround yourself with a reckless choice. It needs to be made with serious consideration and care.
This brings a new dimension to the importance of what we may think of as small seemingly insignificant choices. From today moving forward, you must understand that there is no such thing as an insignificant choice. Everything makes a difference. This may seem like a great deal of work but when you begin to reap the benefits of this wise policy, it will be hard to understand how you ever didn’t live your life in this manner before.
Below you can listen to an interview with Dr. Bruce Lipton about the power of the subconscious mind and how you can get it to work for your benefits and goals.
