The tragic suicide by Rohith Vemula, a second year PhD student at Hyderabad on January 17, 2016 inside a hostel room came as a rude shock to the collective conscience of the nation. In his suicide note, he shared the dreams he had and how he was leaving this world- disillusioned and heartbroken. He is the latest casualty of the caste system.
However, it will be a vague belief that this is just an incident of hostel eviction, suspension, discontinuation of fellowship on a disciplinary ground to a student in a university. It is the matter of choice for a Dalit student to draw his ideological substance and a moral compass from Ambedkar.
He cannot be persecuted for joining a particular organization and holding a point of view. It is the matter of his right to speak on issues of national importance. He probably spoke against the hanging of a convict and was quickly branded by the local MP as anti-national. He was thrown out of the campus and his fellowship discontinued.
There are hundreds of intellectuals and civil society members who are against death penalty. We are prejudiced and a status conscious society. We do not appreciate a Dalit speak like upper caste Hindu. There are historical fault lines and they run deep.
There was a time in this country in 1920s when only 4 % of upper caste Hindus had the total domination over higher education. Now they are made to rub shoulders with the students coming from lower strata of the society. In 1931 census, Hindus were 68.2 % of the total population. Out of this, 21.1% were from “Exterior Castes” also named as “Depressed Castes”, later called Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The grant of a separate electorate to these castes through Macdonald Award would have reduced the position of Congress to the representatives of only upper caste Hindus. This was the sole reason for Gandhi virtually forcing Ambedkar to Poona Pact (1932) by going on fast unto death. This helped cover up the problem of caste entities and strengthened Congress’ claim to represent all Hindus but allowed the posturing of the upper caste Hindus as ‘donors’.
Prof. Satish Deshpandey in his paper ‘Caste and Castelessness’ (2013) writes:-
“The Poona Pact agreed to significantly increase the guaranteed political representation for the Depressed Classes, but a very heavy price was paid for this ‘concession’, as Ambedkar realised only too clearly…. [T] he grant of reservations reduced the Depressed Classes to the status of supplicants for whom a special concession was being made by the majority that ‘ owned ‘ the nation. This effectively positioned the upper-caste minority (which was in control of the majority) as the de facto owner of the nation, with the power to grant favours to this or that subgroup. It is this mindset that has shaped upper caste common-sense on issues of caste and especially reservations.”
The root cause of the alienation of a Dalit student lies in the above mindset wherein he is reminded that he owes his presence in the campus to the concessions given by the dominant Hindu castes. The political climate of the university campus also does not help. The character of the student movement in the present times has hit a new low in this country. The extreme radicals, right wing jingoists, money and muscle power, all have infiltrated into the campus politics. This, in turn, leads to the instances of intolerance, violence and cast conflicts amongst the students.
The caste based discrimination is not a new phenomenon in this country but the hotbed of such practices was mostly the rural society. Now it has taken universities, offices and even urban surroundings in its fold. After independence, the scenario was expected to change under a liberal Constitutional scheme but that did not happen.
Prof Rajni Kothari in his paper ‘Rise of The Dalits and Renewed Debate of Cast’ (1994) writes:-
“The long-held assumption that as the project of nation- building gets under way and democratic rights are extended to the people, that as the development process also gets under way and more and more people and communities benefits from it all and the sources of poverty, unemployment and human misery are eliminated, and that as the productive forces get unfolded and the dialectic of history gets working, there will be no need for ‘parochial’ structures of caste, community, tribe and various feudal vestiges and that people will enter into new relationships of a more secular and political kind.These assumptions have since been belied.”
One of the reasons for this failure arises from the ugly truth of electoral process in India, which in place of removing the caste with the help of a liberal democratic system, has rather strengthened it.
Prof Andre Beteille in his paper “The Peculiar Tenacity of Caste” (2012), writes:-
“After Independence, the political conflicts among castes became more widespread and more intense. New rivalries and new alliances between castes, sub castes and groups of castes began to arise.”
He further writes:-
“With the adoption of adult franchise, the countryside began to experience the pulls and pressures, and also the thrills of electioneering on an unprecedented scale. Loyalty to caste provided an easy basis for mobilizing electoral support. Where caste consciousness was dying down, it was brought back to life by the massive campaigns that became a part of every election.”
The student politics in the university is generally held to be a nursery for the budding politicians and many in Parliament today have a background of active student politics. This nursery is supposed to inject fresh, youthful and modern ideas into the political discourse of the country. But it is a sad reflection of the student politics in India that the young students are wasting their energy in the age old caste conflicts instead of using the modern education system to eradicate this malaise. As the mainstream parties are leaning towards social engineering (read ‘caste combinations’) for electoral success, their frontal organizations and student’s wing have come to acquire the same perspective.
The menace of caste segregation has managed to travel to the university campuses from the rural hinterlands. So have come the attitudinal conflicts between the caste Hindus and Dalit students. The universities have not been able to support a Dalit student from condescending Hindu upper castes. In fact, the attitude of looking down upon a Dalit student emanates from a questionable criteria of merit.
Carol Upadhya in this paper ‘Employment, Exclusion and ‘Merit’ In the Indian IT Industry’ (2007) writes:-
“It hardly needs to be pointed out that the merit argument ignores the social and economic factors that produce ‘meritorious’ candidates in the first place, especially the continuing monopoly over a certain kind of cultural capital that is enjoyed by the middle class- which is composed mainly of upper castes – due to their greater access to the best educational institutions and other processes of social closure.”
Rohith found himself in a position where he had to stand trial by the society for his Dalit background, to justify his existence as a PhD student and to be questioned on his merit. He was not ready and could not bear anymore. The outcome of the investigation of Rohith’s suicide is obvious, rather known to us. In his suicide note, he has not blamed anyone for his death. This is a strong evidence in law and on this ground alone, each of those protagonists of caste system will go scot free who discriminated against him, alienated him from this beautiful world and drove him to suicide. He did fight back but gave up too early. It is not important whether he challenged ABVP or NSUI or SFI, what is important is that he fought against the mindset that pervades all of us.
”The value of a man was reduced to his immediate identity and nearest possibility. To a vote. To a number. To a thing. Never was a man treated as a mind.” Rohith wrote in his suicide note.
So, you are that unicorn. You are not only outraged at the current state of discrimination against Dalits, but are also willing to acknowledge your own privilege as an 'upper caste' individual. You are disgusted even at the idea of doing something blatantly discriminatory, like barring your 'lower caste' maid from cooking your food. You might have even have participated in the solidarity protest for Rohith Vemula's death, or at least posted a (rightfully) indignant comment on the Facebook links describing the police brutality against the protestors.
But is that enough? No, not yet. Not until you examine the insidious caste structures that exist around you, in your office, at that party or in the shopping mall you visit over the weekend. It's not enough until you confront your own 'possibly' unconscious prejudice and actively attempt to undo it.
Being blind to the advantages you received by not being from a 'lower caste'... is like winning a marathon against a differently abled person. And then saying, "I don't see handicaps."
So if you want to stop perpetuating caste bias, and the casteist microagressions you might not be aware of, read on.
1. Acknowledge your caste
Do this first. Because you CANNOT escape it. As I mentioned in a previous piece, you are as much a product of the conditioning your caste provided as the opportunities ours took away from us. Being blind to the advantages you received by not being from a 'lower caste' and attributing your achievements only to your hard work instead of your 'good fortune', is like winning a marathon against a differently abled person while being able bodied. And then saying, "I don't see handicaps." Seeing those 'handicaps' is the first step in undoing your prejudice.
2. Think about caste pride
Whether it's a t-shirt from the local brand that announces you as "100 % Kshatriya/Rajput/Baniya" or the local sweet shop you prefer, where things are prepared "only by Brahmins", 'upper caste' pride inevitably denigrates the 'lower castes'. The pride you feel when declaring your immense luck in being born as an 'upper caste', reflects an inherent bias against those who aren't.
Giving up the pride associated with your 'upper caste', while agreeing for us to salvage ours, is possibly the least you can do.
And before you ask, no, it's not the same as us declaring #Dalitpride, which essentially is an act of subversion and reclaiming of our dignity against millennia of oppression. It's our protest against the shame we are made to feel. Unlike your assertion of pride, ours is not an abuse against someone who isn't Dalit. In the larger system of privilege -- which has unfairly allowed (and continues to allow) the 'upper castes' to progress in education, wealth and culture, while withholding the 'lower' ones -- giving up the pride associated with your 'upper caste', while agreeing for us to salvage ours, is possibly the least you can do.
3. Be sensitive to casteist slurs
Please, just stop already with affronts that make our very identity an insult. Being a 'bhangi' or a 'Chamar' is not something we have any control over. Just like you didn't choose to be complicit in a system that ultimately promotes prejudice and casteism. Simply being born under those or any other Dalit castes does not make us 'dirty', 'uncouth' or another crude stereotype. So, next time you feel like laughing at someone being called a 'choodi chamar' or a 'phatichar bhangi.', just do us a favour and don't. And if you still do (because we need to chill/it's just a joke), do reconsider calling yourself "not casteist".
4. Know your friends
If you studied in a certain kind of institution, work at a certain multinational/media outlet/ research organization/ government institution, wear certain clothes and communicate in a certain way, chances are your friends do similar things. You might not openly inquire about their caste, but the assumption that they share yours is inherently built in your choices (because Dalits are not 'supposed' to look, act, speak the way you do). And I speak from personal experience, when a 'respectable' journalist declared complete shock at me being Dalit and studying at Columbia Journalism School. Because for him, those two were obviously mutually exclusive.

News flash: You (and him) couldn't be more wrong. Few of your friends, like I did for years, might be passing as 'upper castes' only because of their fear of exclusion by you (and society). We are not a separate species who all look the same or different than the rest of you. The assumption that we can only 'be' of one type is also casteist. So, before you vehemently insist that 'all quota guys' are undeserving and maintain that 'these people' get everything easily, remember that 'these people' might be your closest friend sitting right there, pretending to agree with you or rushing out to make that fake phone call. You can't undo the prejudice they might have faced for most their life, but you can make it easier for them to come out, even if just to you.
5. Know those who are NOT your friends
Sure, you selectively gravitated towards those who reflected your life choices. But what about those who didn't? The ones, who didn't speak, look, present like you. Those, who put all of their and their family's wealth on the line, just to be able to attend the same college as you. The ones who didn't always go out for brunch or after-work drinks because they were sending a chunk of their income home? Or those who spoke English haltingly, going over every translation in their head, conscious of the judgment you had already delivered. Sure, you don't have to be their friend. But by judging their worth based on their background (against which they had no chance because... oppression) you are not less casteist (or classist, as the case may be) than the garden-variety troll either.
Now, if you are still casteist and struggling to acknowledge your 'upper caste' privilege, you need immediate help. Read dalitdiscrimination.tumblr.com to find out how your experience differs wildly from those born in 'lower castes'. Or just pick a good textbook of Indian history. But whatever you do, act fast! Before casteism blindsides you culturally.
"Information Clearing House" - I have been filming in the Marshall Islands, which lie north of Australia, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Whenever I tell people where I have been, they ask, "Where is that?" If I offer a clue by referring to "Bikini", they say, "You mean the swimsuit."
Few seem aware that the bikini swimsuit was named to celebrate the nuclear explosions that destroyed Bikini island. Sixty-six nuclear devices were exploded by the United States in the Marshall Islands between 1946 and 1958 -- the equivalent of 1.6 Hiroshima bombs every day for twelve years.
Bikini is silent today, mutated and contaminated. Palm trees grow in a strange grid formation. Nothing moves. There are no birds. The headstones in the old cemetery are alive with radiation. My shoes registered "unsafe" on a Geiger counter.
Standing on the beach, I watched the emerald green of the Pacific fall away into a vast black hole. This was the crater left by the hydrogen bomb they called "Bravo". The explosion poisoned people and their environment for hundreds of miles, perhaps forever.
On my return journey, I stopped at Honolulu airport and noticed an American magazine called Women's Health. On the cover was a smiling woman in a bikini swimsuit, and the headline: "You, too, can have a bikini body." A few days earlier, in the Marshall Islands, I had interviewed women who had very different "bikini bodies"; each had suffered thyroid cancer and other life-threatening cancers.
Unlike the smiling woman in the magazine, all of them were impoverished: the victims and guinea pigs of a rapacious superpower that is today more dangerous than ever.
I relate this experience as a warning and to interrupt a distraction that has consumed so many of us. The founder of modern propaganda, Edward Bernays, described this phenomenon as "the conscious and intelligent manipulation of the habits and opinions" of democratic societies. He called it an "invisible government".
How many people are aware that a world war has begun? At present, it is a war of propaganda, of lies and distraction, but this can change instantaneously with the first mistaken order, the first missile.
In 2009, President Obama stood before an adoring crowd in the centre of Prague, in the heart of Europe. He pledged himself to make "the world free from nuclear weapons". People cheered and some cried. A torrent of platitudes flowed from the media. Obama was subsequently awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
It was all fake. He was lying.
The Obama administration has built more nuclear weapons, more nuclear warheads, more nuclear delivery systems, more nuclear factories. Nuclear warhead spending alone rose higher under Obama than under any American president. The cost over thirty years is more than $1 trillion.
A mini nuclear bomb is planned. It is known as the B61 Model 12. There has never been anything like it. General James Cartwright, a former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has said, "Going smaller [makes using this nuclear] weapon more thinkable."
In the last eighteen months, the greatest build-up of military forces since World War Two -- led by the United States -- is taking place along Russia's western frontier. Not since Hitler invaded the Soviet Union have foreign troops presented such a demonstrable threat to Russia.
Ukraine - once part of the Soviet Union - has become a CIA theme park. Having orchestrated a coup in Kiev, Washington effectively controls a regime that is next door and hostile to Russia: a regime rotten with Nazis, literally. Prominent parliamentary figures in Ukraine are the political descendants of the notorious OUN and UPA fascists. They openly praise Hitler and call for the persecution and expulsion of the Russian speaking minority.
This is seldom news in the West, or it is inverted to suppress the truth.
In Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia -- next door to Russia - the US military is deploying combat troops, tanks, heavy weapons. This extreme provocation of the world's second nuclear power is met with silence in the West.
What makes the prospect of nuclear war even more dangerous is a parallel campaign against China.
Seldom a day passes when China is not elevated to the status of a "threat". According to Admiral Harry Harris, the US Pacific commander, China is "building a great wall of sand in the South China Sea".
What he is referring to is China building airstrips in the Spratly Islands, which are the subject of a dispute with the Philippines - a dispute without priority until Washington pressured and bribed the government in Manila and the Pentagon launched a propaganda campaign called "freedom of navigation".
What does this really mean? It means freedom for American warships to patrol and dominate the coastal waters of China. Try to imagine the American reaction if Chinese warships did the same off the coast of California.
I made a film called The War You Don't See, in which I interviewed distinguished journalists in America and Britain: reporters such as Dan Rather of CBS, Rageh Omar of the BBC, David Rose of the Observer.
All of them said that had journalists and broadcasters done their job and questioned the propaganda that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction; had the lies of George W. Bush and Tony Blair not been amplified and echoed by journalists, the 2003 invasion of Iraq might not have happened, and hundreds of thousands of men, women and children would be alive today.
The propaganda laying the ground for a war against Russia and/or China is no different in principle. To my knowledge, no journalist in the Western "mainstream" -- a Dan Rather equivalent, say --asks why China is building airstrips in the South China Sea.
The answer ought to be glaringly obvious. The United States is encircling China with a network of bases, with ballistic missiles, battle groups, nuclear -armed bombers.
This lethal arc extends from Australia to the islands of the Pacific, the Marianas and the Marshalls and Guam, to the Philippines, Thailand, Okinawa, Korea and across Eurasia to Afghanistan and India. America has hung a noose around the neck of China. This is not news. Silence by media; war by media.
In 2015, in high secrecy, the US and Australia staged the biggest single air-sea military exercise in recent history, known as Talisman Sabre. Its aim was to rehearse an Air-Sea Battle Plan, blocking sea lanes, such as the Straits of Malacca and the Lombok Straits, that cut off China's access to oil, gas and other vital raw materials from the Middle East and Africa.
In the circus known as the American presidential campaign, Donald Trump is being presented as a lunatic, a fascist. He is certainly odious; but he is also a media hate figure. That alone should arouse our scepticism.
Trump's views on migration are grotesque, but no more grotesque than those of David Cameron. It is not Trump who is the Great Deporter from the United States, but the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Barack Obama.
According to one prodigious liberal commentator, Trump is "unleashing the dark forces of violence" in the United States. Unleashing them?
This is the country where toddlers shoot their mothers and the police wage a murderous war against black Americans. This is the country that has attacked and sought to overthrow more than 50 governments, many of them democracies, and bombed from Asia to the Middle East, causing the deaths and dispossession of millions of people.
No country can equal this systemic record of violence. Most of America's wars (almost all of them against defenceless countries) have been launched not by Republican presidents but by liberal Democrats: Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Clinton, Obama.
In 1947, a series of National Security Council directives described the paramount aim of American foreign policy as "a world substantially made over in [America's] own image". The ideology was messianic Americanism. We were all Americans. Or else. Heretics would be converted, subverted, bribed, smeared or crushed.
Donald Trump is a symptom of this, but he is also a maverick. He says the invasion of Iraq was a crime; he doesn't want to go to war with Russia and China. The danger to the rest of us is not Trump, but Hillary Clinton. She is no maverick. She embodies the resilience and violence of a system whose vaunted "exceptionalism" is totalitarian with an occasional liberal face.
As presidential election day draws near, Clinton will be hailed as the first female president, regardless of her crimes and lies - just as Barack Obama was lauded as the first black president and liberals swallowed his nonsense about "hope". And the drool goes on.
Described by the Guardian columnist Owen Jones as "funny, charming, with a coolness that eludes practically every other politician", Obama the other day sent drones to slaughter 150 people in Somalia. He kills people usually on Tuesdays, according to the New York Times, when he is handed a list of candidates for death by drone. So cool.
In the 2008 presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton threatened to "totally obliterate" Iran with nuclear weapons. As Secretary of State under Obama, she participated in the overthrow of the democratic government of Honduras. Her contribution to the destruction of Libya in 2011 was almost gleeful. When the Libyan leader, Colonel Gaddafi, was publicly sodomised with a knife - a murder made possible by American logistics - Clinton gloated over his death: "We came, we saw, he died."
One of Clinton's closest allies is Madeleine Albright, the former secretary of State, who has attacked young women for not supporting "Hillary". This is the same Madeleine Albright who infamously celebrated on TV the death of half a million Iraqi children as "worth it".
Among Clinton's biggest backers are the Israel lobby and the arms companies that fuel the violence in the Middle East. She and her husband have received a fortune from Wall Street. And yet, she is about to be ordained the women's candidate, to see off the evil Trump, the official demon. Her supporters include distinguished feminists: the likes of Gloria Steinem in the US and Anne Summers in Australia.
A generation ago, a post-modern cult now known as "identity politics" stopped many intelligent, liberal-minded people examining the causes and individuals they supported -- such as the fakery of Obama and Clinton; such as bogus progressive movements like Syriza in Greece, which betrayed the people of that country and allied with their enemies.
Self absorption, a kind of "me-ism", became the new zeitgeist in privileged western societies and signaled the demise of great collective movements against war, social injustice, inequality, racism and sexism.
Today, the long sleep may be over. The young are stirring again. Gradually. The thousands in Britain who supported Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader are part of this awakening - as are those who rallied to support Senator Bernie Sanders.
In Britain last week, Jeremy Corbyn's closest ally, his shadow treasurer John McDonnell, committed a Labour government to pay off the debts of piratical banks and, in effect, to continue so-called austerity.
In the US, Bernie Sanders has promised to support Clinton if or when she's nominated. He, too, has voted for America's use of violence against countries when he thinks it's "right". He says Obama has done "a great job".
In Australia, there is a kind of mortuary politics, in which tedious parliamentary games are played out in the media while refugees and Indigenous people are persecuted and inequality grows, along with the danger of war. The government of Malcolm Turnbull has just announced a so-called defence budget of $195 billion that is a drive to war. There was no debate. Silence.
What has happened to the great tradition of popular direct action, unfettered to parties? Where is the courage, imagination and commitment required to begin the long journey to a better, just and peaceful world? Where are the dissidents in art, film, the theatre, literature?
Where are those who will shatter the silence? Or do we wait until the first nuclear missile is fired?

The issue here is: refusing to believe an uncomfortable fact.
An unpleasant fact.
A devastating fact.
There is a simple formula that describes how the public refuses to believe an uncomfortable fact.
It goes this way:
“Well, if that were true, then…”
It’s a statement that suggests a person is standing at the edge of a cliff. And if he accepted some particularly unpleasant fact, he’d suddenly fall off.
Another way to look at it: if he accepted this fact, it would lead, by contagion, to him admitting there were other very uncomfortable truths. And then, by extension, like branches quickly growing out of a tree, a whole host of multiplying shocks would become known.
So it is, in the area of vaccines.
The experts, like preening peacocks, assure us that the shots are amazingly safe. After all, they’ve done the studies. They’ve published the studies.
There is widespread fraud in those reports, because, for example, of the short follow-up period—as if adverse effects could only occur in a 72-hour window, or over the course of a few weeks. Who decided that? Who made that arbitrary rule?
And then, most importantly, studies are not real life. We have seen glowing assessments of medical drugs in print, but when they are (like Vioxx) released for public use, people start dropping like flies.
In the case of vaccines (in real life), the one system for reporting human damage is broken. Completely broken. It’s called VAERS, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System. It’s run by the CDC and the FDA. (My readers are aware of how many crimes and lies I’ve laid at the door of those two august agencies.)
Who can make a report of an adverse vaccine-reaction? A parent, a doctor, a nurse, a nurse practitioner. You can see the problems right away.
How many parents even know the VAERS system exists? How many parents have the knowledge or the will to follow through and submit a report? How many parents will dare to suspect that a vaccine has injured their children? How many doctors or nurses who administer vaccinations are eager to report cases of children who incur obvious brain damage from the shot THEY GAVE?
So…for doctors and medical experts to claim vaccines are safe in the real world? They’re pretending they know what they don’t know. They’re faking it.
But if that were true, then…
That’s right. If that were true, we would have no proof that vaccines are safe.
Therefore, when the government advises and nudges and even demands that people line up for vaccinations, the government is in the dark about safety. Completely in the dark.
But if that were true…
Then the entire population is at risk.
That’s right.
Let’s go back to those pre-marketing studies, which are done on vaccines in order to gain FDA approval. Who conducts the studies? The vaccine manufacturers. And who stands to profit from the sale of the vaccines? Ever heard of conflict of interest?
And have any studies been done to assess the risks of giving multiple vaccines? After all, the CDC schedule keeps getting longer and longer. I can find no evidence of well-formed clinical trials assessing the safety of shooting people in the arm with multiple vaccines. Does that seem like an oversight? A horrendous hole in the “science” of vaccination?
But if that’s true, then…
We would, again, have no proof that vaccination is safe.
Correct.
Now, from the historical record, we do have many, many disturbing examples of what has happened to people after vaccines have been approved. Here are just a few:
What about this? “Accidents may, however, follow the use of this so-called killed (rabies) vaccine owing to inadequate processing. A very serious occurrence of this sort occurred at Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil, in 1960. No fewer than 18 out of 66 persons vaccinated with Fermi’s carbolized (rabies) vaccine suffered from encephalomyelitis and every one of the eighteen died.” Sir Graham Wilson, Hazards of Immunization.
What about this? “Administration of KMV (killed measles vaccine) apparently set in motion an aberrant immunologic response that not only failed to protect children against natural measles, but resulted in heightened susceptibility.” JAMA Aug. 22, 1980, vol. 244, p. 804, Vincent Fulginiti and Ray Helfer. The authors indicate that such falsely protected children can come down with “an often severe, atypical form of measles. Atypical measles is characterized by fever, headache… and a diverse rash (which)… may consist of a mixture of macules, papules, vesicles, and pustules… ”
What about this? “… Based on the only U.S. findings on adverse DPT reactions, an FDA-financed study at the University of California, Los Angeles, one out of every 350 children will have a convulsion; one in 180 children will experience high-pitched screaming; and one in 66 will have a fever of 105 degrees or more.” Jennifer Hyman, Democrat and Chronicle, Rochester, New York, special supplement on DPT, dated April, 1987.
What about this? “A study undertaken in 1979 at the University of California, Los Angeles, under the sponsorship of the Food and Drug Administration, and which has been confirmed by other studies, indicates that in the U.S.A. approximately 1,000 infants die annually as a direct result of DPT vaccinations, and these are classified as SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) deaths. These represent about 10 to 15% of the total number of SIDS deaths occurring annually in the U.S.A. What about this? “Up to half of family doctors do not want to be vaccinated against swine flu. GPs will be first in the line for the jabs when they become available but many will decline, even though they will be offering the vaccine to their patients. More than two thirds of those who will turn the jab down believe it has not been tested enough. Most also believe the flu has turned out to be so mild in the vast majority of cases that the vaccine is not needed. Last night Government experts criticised GPs who decide not to have the jab, saying they will put vulnerable patients needlessly at risk. A week ago, a poll of nurses showed that a third would turn down the opportunity of being vaccinated against swine flu. News that medics are unconvinced by the need for a vaccine will cause grave concern to patients who will be invited for the jab over the next few months. A poll of doctors for Pulse magazine found that 49 per cent would reject the vaccine with 9 per cent undecided.” Daily Mail, 8/25/2009.
These few references to vaccine disasters are but a drop in the bucket, of course.
If these and other such references are true (and they are), then…
Doctors and medical bureaucrats are telling massive lies about the safety of vaccines. They aren’t just ignorant about safety.

And if that’s true, then…
How can we trust these people?
How can we trust the major media outlets that give overwhelming support to these people?
We can’t.
When mothers tell the world that their children, after a shot, are never the same again, they aren’t “providing anecdotes,” contrasted with “scientific studies.” The mothers are giving us a much more reliable account of what vaccines are doing than the fakery of the “science.”
But if the mothers are right (and they are)…
And if the experts are lying through their teeth about vaccine safety (and they are)…
Then Reality is not what we’re told it is.
It’s the opposite of what we’re told.
And this isn’t merely an intellectual glitch.
Every day, lives are on the line.

I’ll leave you with a fantastical piece of “science” from the government VAERS website — VAERS Data page. It centers on the use of the word “coincidence.” If this doesn’t convince you that truth has been hijacked, I don’t know what will:
“More than 10 million vaccines per year are given to children less than 1 year old, usually between 2 and 6 months of age. At this age, infants are at greatest risk for certain medical adverse events, including high fevers, seizures, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Some infants will experience these medical events shortly after a vaccination by coincidence.
“These coincidences make it difficult to know whether a particular adverse event resulted from a medical condition or from a vaccination.”
Do you see the diabolical criminal sophistry?
“Some infants will experience these medical events [seizures, death, etc.] shortly after a vaccination by coincidence.”
By coincidence.
Yes, you see, an hour after the baby was given the vaccine, he also contracted a raging case of meningitis, or his parents also, coincidently, fed him a poison, or a bio-warfare germ floated in the window and settled on his tongue, or a flash of light from a distant galaxy struck him in the eyes and blinded him. Therefore, reputable scientists are unable to determine whether the vaccine caused the damage.
This is what government scientists and bureaucrats are selling terrified grief-stricken parents whose child’s life has just been destroyed by a shot in the arm.
This is policy.
This is what you shouldn’t question, because if you do, you might experience an unpleasant sensation in the pit of your stomach.

Can HAARP manipulate storms, hurricanes, and earthquakes? There is definitely a correlation between these and when HAARP is active. This article will give some examples of that correlation. And while that alone does not prove a direct causal relationship, the physics ofHAARP and the political agenda behind the program suggest that weather and earthquake manipulation is both possible and likely.
Background
I assume everyone reading this knows of HAARP. Less known is that HAARP is only one of several such facilities — and not the most powerful one either. There are others, here are five:
1) Mu Radar – 1 megawatt facility in Japan (34°51'14.80"N 136° 6'19.45"E).
2) Arecibo Observatory – 2 megawatt facility in Puerto Rico (18°20'38.97"N 66°45'9.77"W).
3) HIPAS – 70 megawatt facility east of Fairbanks, Alaska (64°52'21.18"N 146°50'18.78"W).
4) Sura – 190 megawatt facility in central Russia (56° 7'10.32"N 46° 2'4.41"E).

By comparison, HAARP (near Gakona, Alaska – 62°23'33.73"N 145° 9'2.61"W) is claimed to be a mere 3.6 megawatt facility — and that’s after being upgraded in 2006. It has 278 times less maximum power than the ionospheric heater in Norway.
Nevertheless, HAARP is far from useless. According to the DARPA:
Key to the current effort was the expansion of the experimental research facility that includes a 3.6 MW high-frequency transmitter and a variety of diagnostic instruments, to conduct investigations to characterize the physical processes that can be initiated and controlled in the ionosphere and space, via interactions with high power radio waves. Among these were: (1) the generation of extremely low frequency/very low frequency radio waves for submarine and other subsurface communication, and the reduction of charged particle populations in the radiation belts to ensure safe spacecraft systems operations; (2) the control of electron density gradients and the refractive properties in selected regions of the ionosphere to create radio wave propagation channels; and (3) the generation of optical and infrared emissions in space to calibrate space sensors.
A study completed by an Air Force/Navy Panel also pointed to additional high-value functions that can potentially be accomplished with the a 3.6 MW capability, in particular, the exploration and refinement of scientific principles that could lead to the development and deployment of a system to provide protection for spacebased assets from emergent asymmetric threats. HAARP alone has many applications, primarily military, and those listed above are just a small “safe to reveal” set of examples. If 3.6 MW can accomplish these, imagine what 1000 MW might do!
There is an interesting anecdotal account by Dan Eden of HAARP being used for surreptitious purposes. Furthermore, he claimed that there was a second, secret, more powerful installation in Alaska. Now in 2008, a decade later, the existence of that facility is no longer secret and its name is HIPAS, which is indeed almost twenty times as powerful as HAARP.
Physics of HAARP
What makes these ionospheric heaters so useful is that they consist of phased arrays. A phased array is a grid of antennas whose phases (timing) and amplitudes are individually adjustable. This means a great variety of different combinations can be tried out, synthesizing new and complex total wave forms. Phasing allows the output to be pointed in different directions without having to move the antennas themselves.
For anyone familiar with the works of Tom Bearden, phased arrays also allow for partial phase conjugation or canceling of the emitted electromagnetic waves. When EM waves have either (or both) of their electric and magnetic components cancelled, the contained energy takes the form of a longitudinal, potential, scalar, gravitational, or temporal wave instead.
Ionospheric heaters can also “control electron density gradients and the refractive properties in selected regions of the ionosphere” meaning it can modulate ionospheric electron density. That is another powerful method of generating longitudinal waves, using the sky itself as a giant longitudinal antenna.
And so phased arrays can be used to generate an entirely different type of radiation, one that cannot be detected with standard EM-measuring instruments. Depending on their frequency and type, these waves can theoretically affect human emotion and biology, influence the weather, alter tectonic dynamics, and even manipulate our surrounding hyper-dimensional environment to allow for controlled invisibility and interdimensional maneuvering of military personnel and vehicles. In essence, everything that regular electromagnetic waves cannot really do.
This much I find plausible, that HAARP-like technologies are active on a level superseding those of regular electromagnetism, and that this is what HAARP and its sister facilities are really being used for. It is nothing the public knows about or can comprehend because this technology uses an expanded kind of physics of which only a small and sterilized subset comprises mainstream college textbooks. But it can be figured out if you have a physics background and study the implications and applications of force-free potential fields, as I have demonstrated at the Scalar Physics Research Center website.
Weather Manipulation
Now let’s look at some potential correlations between notable weather events and when HAARP was active. Its activity can be read from the waterfall chart published on the HAARP website. According to the site:
This chart is a waterfall plot of the readings taken by the Spectrum Monitor for the last 36 hours. The vertical axis is the frequency, ranging from 1 – 30 Mhz and the horizontal axis is the UTC time. Spectrum samples are taken every few minutes. The color indicates intensity of received signal at each frequency, ranging from deep blue for the weakest signals to red, yellow and white for the strongest signals.
HAARP activity is indicated by sharply defined patterns on the waterfall chart, like the slots on a piano roll or stripes on a spectrograph. There is also background noise in the charts, but those are more diffuse. What matters is the sharp patterns, their presence, sequence, when they start and stop.
Hurricane Katrina – August 23-30, 2005
HAARP was highly active in the weeks before Katrina, during, and a short time after. The correlation is therefore not complete. If HAARP were inactive during that time, then it could be proven that it had absolutely nothing to do with Katrina, but since it was indeed active, a possible link still remains.
August 22 – Remnants of Tropical Depression Ten move into position.
August 23 – Remnants form into Tropical Depression Twelve.
August 24 – Depression strengthens and is renamed Tropical Storm Katrina.
August 25 – Katrina strengthens and becomes Category 1 hurricane and strikes southeast Florida.
August 26 – Katrina weakens to tropical storm, exits on the west side of Florida into warm waters, then re-intensifies into a Category 1 hurricane. It rapidly gains strength.
August 27 – Katrina reaches the central Gulf and becomes a large and well-organized Category 3 hurricane.
August 28 – Katrina comes within a few hundred miles off the coast and grows to Category 4 early in the day, then to Category 5 by midday.
August 29 – Katrina makes landfall with 155 mph winds.
August 30 – Katrina weakens to a heavy storm affecting Tennessee and surrounding areas.
Hurricane Ophelia never got past Category 1. But it had a highly erratic, meandering pathway including a clockwise loop halfway through (September 10-12).
Forecasters had a tough time predicting its path and behavior. The hurricane formed on September 8, slipping in and out of hurricane status several times before fizzling out on September 16 and moving into the North Atlantic.

If HAARP had anything to do with this, it would more likely have been for testing hurricane steering.
2006 and 2007
The two years following Katrina had very quiet hurricane seasons compared to what was predicted.
2006 Hurricane Forecast a Flop
MIAMI (AP – Dec 2006) — The mild 2006 Atlantic hurricane season draws to a close Thursday without a single hurricane striking the United States — a stark contrast to the record-breaking 2005 season that killed more than 1,500 people and left thousands homeless along the Gulf Coast.
Nine named storms and five hurricanes formed this season, and just two of the hurricanes were considered major. […]
In May, scientists predicted 13 to 16 named storms and eight to 10 hurricanes, with four to six of them major. […]
Bell urged people not to become complacent about the next season (2007), which starts June 1. Forecasters say the Atlantic is still in an active hurricane period that began in 1995 and could last another decade or more. (source)
Very Active 2007 Hurricane Season Predicted
ScienceDaily (Apr. 3, 2007) — The U.S. Atlantic basin will likely experience a very active hurricane season, the Colorado State University forecast team announced today, increasing its earlier prediction for the 2007 hurricane season.
The team’s forecast now anticipates 17 named storms forming in the Atlantic basin between June 1 and Nov. 30. Nine of the 17 storms are predicted to become hurricanes, and of those nine, five are expected to develop into intense or major hurricanes (Saffir/Simpson category 3-4-5) with sustained winds of 111 mph or greater. 2007 Hurricane Season Ending Raises Forecast Concerns
National Geographic (November 30, 2007) – The 2007 Atlantic hurricane season, which officially ends today, has—like last year—failed to live up to the predictions of forecasters.
Now some experts fear the second year of inaccurate preseason predictions will shake the public’s faith in all hurricane forecasts—even when a storm is bearing down upon them. (source)
Compared to a prediction of 17 storms, 9 of those hurricanes, and 5 major hurricanes, 2007 instead ended with 15 storms, 6 hurricanes, and 2 major ones. So compared to forecasts, 2007 and 2006 were surprisingly calm.
Hurricane Bertha
Recently the first hurricane of the 2008 season formed.

Washington Post (July 8, 2008) – After explosive development yesterday, Hurricane Bertha is struggling today. Its maximum winds have dropped from 120 mph last night to 105 mph as of 11 a.m. and it has been downgraded to a category two storm. […]
While it remains to be seen whether Bertha will affect any land areas, it will go down in history as a record-breaking storm and may be a harbinger of a very active hurricane season. […] Bertha easily broke the record for becoming the furthest east named storm prior to August 1. (source)
Hurricane Bertha “One for the Record Books”
The Daily Green (July 9, 2008) – From the start, there was something pretty odd about Hurricane Bertha.
The storm formed just before Independence Day last week, and immediately showed plenty of it. Bertha developed from a tropical wave almost immediately as the disturbance came off the coast of Africa, and so became the most easterly forming July tropical storm known to us, as well as the most easterly forming Atlantic tropical storm period. […]
As Bertha moved steadily westward, she intensified, first becoming a hurricane and then exploding into a powerful Category 3 major hurricane Monday with 120 mile per hour winds — and possibly, for a brief while, a Category 4. It’s the earliest we’ve seen such an intense Atlantic hurricane since the year 2005, when hurricanes Dennis and Emily were Category 4 and 5 storms, respectively, in July. Dennis reached Category 4 strength on July 7 of that year … the same day on which Bertha exploded three years later.
That’s a particularly worrisome precedent because in 2005, the hurricane year only got worse after Dennis — featuring Category 5s Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.
But perhaps even more worrisome is this recent appearance of very intense hurricanes in July, a month that traditionally has not featured many of them. Says Holland: “It is notable that we have had a remarkable run of July storms, which over the past decade have been running more than 50% above the previous average.” Technically, given her origins so close to the African coast, Bertha is categorized as a Cape Verde-type hurricane, and those tend to be the most powerful and destructive of them all. But they don’t generally form until later in the hurricane season … or, at least, that’s how it used to be. (source)
The most important feature of this hurricane was how rapidly it grew on July 7 before weakening just as quickly. At sunrise it was Category 1, and within twelve short hours Bertha had grown into a Category 3 (possibly 4) hurricane. Something unusual happened just on that afternoon. Here are the HAARP charts before, during, and after this event:
Notice that the only significant activity occurs during a short window of time. The July 7 chart shows HAARP was active between 16:25 and 17:25 UTC — between 12:25 PM and 1:25 PM Eastern Time — on that same Monday afternoon when Bertha suddenly became Category 3.
HAARP was not active before or after that event, and likewise Bertha was not as strong before or after. Bertha faded out afterwards. The correlation there is complete.
If HAARP was responsible for manipulating Hurricane Bertha, then the fact that it happened so quickly and nothing destructive ultimately came of it indicates a test or practice run. And with news of Bertha being a record-breaking hurricane foreshadowing an ominous hurricane season, the stage is set for an orchestrated hurricane disaster wherever convenient.
HAARP went active July 14-15, coinciding once again with Bertha (just a strong storm now) strengthening suddenly.
Sunday July 13 – no activity.
Monday July 14 – HAARP goes active between 10:00 – 22:30 UTC (6 AM – 6:30 PM Eastern).
“After looking rather anemic early Monday morning …Bertha’s ‘convection’ erupted during the day along with the storm also getting more symmetrically and solidly organized by late afternoon. […]”
“From the southwest edge of the eye, near the radar site, to the northeast edge, was just a hair under 150 kilometers (the rings are spaced every 50 km), or about 90 miles. I don’t know if there’s an official “record” for eye diameter, but I can’t offhand remember ever seeing any that have been bigger than that.” (source)
Tuesday July 15 – “From the National Hurricane Center: BERTHA IS NOW THE LONGEST-LIVED JULY TROPICAL STORM IN ATLANTIC” (source)
Bertha had been weakening for days leading up to July 14, while HAARP had been quiet for that same period of time. Then HAARP turned on, and Bertha rapidly gained strength. Further, it gained strength at precisely the right moment to hit Bermuda the hardest. Together with the July 7 charts, this makes a very strong case that Bertha’s sudden strength gains are linked to HAARP.
Myanmar Cyclone and China’s 2008 Earthquake
Both the cyclone that hit Burma and the earthquake that struck China tightly coincided with the same HAARP activity period.
Cyclone Nargis was the worst natural disaster to hit Burma in recorded history, killing at least 85,000 people. The China earthquake led to the deaths of at least 80,000 people.
HAARP activity began at 5:45 UTC on April 27, 2008.
“In the last week of April 2008, an area of deep convection persisted near a low-level circulation in the Bay of Bengal about 1150 km (715 mi) east-southeast of Chennai, India.”
“On April 28 Nargis became nearly stationary while located between ridges to its northwest and southeast. That day the JTWC upgraded the storm to cyclone status, the equivalent of a minimal hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane scale.”
“Early on April 29, the JTWC estimated Nargis reached winds of 160 km/h (100 mph), and at the same time the IMD classified the system as a very severe cyclonic storm. […] By late on April 29, convection had begun to rebuild, though immediate restrengthening was prevented by increased wind shear”
“On May 1, after turning nearly due eastward, Cyclone Nargis began rapidly intensifying, due to greatly improved outflow in association with an approaching upper-level trough. Strengthening continued as it developed a well-defined eye with a diameter of 19 km (12 mi), and early on May 2 the JTWC estimated the cyclone reached peak winds of 215 km/h (135 mph) as it approached the coast of Burma, making it a category 4 storm.”
“Around 1200 UTC on May 2, Cyclone Nargis made landfall in the Ayeyarwady Division of Burma at peak strength. The storm gradually weakened as it procceded east over Burma, with its proximity to the Andaman Sea preventing rapid weakening. Its track turned to the northeast due to the approach of a mid-latitude trough to its northwest, passing just north of Yangon with winds of 130 km/h (80 mph).”
“Early on May 3 the IMD issued its final advisory on the storm. It quickly weakened after turning to the northeast toward the rugged terrain near the Burma-Thailand border, and after deteriorating to minimal tropical storm status, the JTWC issued its last advisory on Nargis.” (source)
After Nargis, HAARP continued operating for another week:
HAARP ceased activity at 22 UTC on May 11, 2008. The China earthquake struck a little more than eight hours later at 6:28 UTC on May 12. In the days and minutes before the quake, there were reports of strange phenomena including bizarre toad behavior and iridescentclouds. Earthquakes are typically “in the works” days or weeks before going off, and animals, sensitive people, and scalar detectors can sense the nonphysical precursors to these quakes.
One has to wonder, if earthquakes generate and are preceded by scalar waves, could scalar waves likewise trigger earthquakes? If so, the phased array of various ionospheric heaters around the world may be capable of doing this for political and military purposes. The quake was certainly convenient for western military factions:

There is not enough actual energy being outputted by ionospheric heaters to directly power an earthquake, but they don’t need that much power if they merely act as nonlinear imbalancers, triggers, or redirectors of existing large natural energy flows.
Was the earthquake just a random natural event? Or was it strategically and intentionally created? Consider this:
The official death toll was 80,000.
HAARP shut off ~8 hours before the quake struck.
Earthquake was of magnitude 8.0.
It happened on May 12th (5/12 = 5 + 1 + 2 = 8).
The earthquake occurred exactly 88 days before the Beijing Olympics.
