X5 CME Event

A Solar Storm Is Expected To Reach Earth On January 2. 2024

nemesis maturity

Solar activity reached high levels when Region 3536 produced an X5.0-class flare at 31/21:55 UTC with complex radio burst signatures reported across discrete frequencies by the USAF/RSTN observatories.

This flare came from the same region that produced an X2.8 flare on December 14, 2023.

The X-flare also produced a 10 cm radio Burst of 3,100 sfu at 31/21:43 UTC and a Type IV radio sweep at 31/21:42 UTC.

In addition to the X-flare, newly numbered Region 3536 produced an M1.0 flare, an M2.3 and an additional M4.7.

Improved models (NASA and NOAA) of yesterday's X5-class CME suggest the storm cloud will graze Earth on Jan. 2nd.

However, even a grazing impact from such a powerful explosion can cause a geomagnetic storm. At the time, a G2-class storm watch remains in effect.

Solar activity is likely to reach moderate levels with a chance for X-class flares over the next three days due primarily to the flare potential from Region 3536.
